The pan-Asian Inman Square restaurant Spice and Rice may become a new restaurant called Hit Wicket. According to the schedule for an upcoming license commission general hearing for Cambridge, a license transfer from the owners of the Spice and Rice address has been put in for a new venue by that name. Boston Restaurant Talk notes that Hit Wicket seeks to serve lunch and dinner seven days a week with room for 95.
As of now there's no information available for Hit Wicket, though the phrase "hit wicket" apparently refers to the incredibly appetizing law 35 from the game of cricket, "in which after the bowler has entered his delivery stride and while the ball is in play, his wicket is put down either by the striker's bat or by his person." Though it originated in Europe, cricket is of course popular in numerous countries, and so the proposed new restaurant could serve anything from spotted dick to biryani. If the changeover does go through, there's no word yet as to what is in store for Spice and Rice, though it could be that truth-seeking historians have pressured the restaurant to move on after it popularized the erroneous historical claim that this is "where sushi met sake."
