A massive brewing facility in Dorchester finally starts mixing ingredients today ahead of a projected opening some time in July. Dorchester Brewing Company’s 25,000-square-foot space at 250 Massachusetts Ave. is ready for use, according to a post on the brewery’s Facebook page, and with a shipment of 50,000 pounds of malt arriving last week, brewing is all set to start today.
Dorchester Brewing Company will serve as a contract brewing facility, providing space for regional craft brewers to develop their products in a collaborative environment in Dorchester, as previously reported. Co-founders Todd Charbonneau (a veteran brewer at Harpoon), Matt Molloy, Travis Lee, and Holly Irgens saw the concept as a "catalyst to further build the community and bring manufacturing back to Dorchester," according to its website.
When it opens, DBC will have a tasting room with a 20-line tap system, in addition to the brewing space, and there are plans to host events at the facilities.
