As if you needed another thing to get you excited for warmer weather, Boston Restaurant Talk picked up word that an outdoor beer garden and restaurant is coming to the Arsenal on the Charles complex in Watertown. The new bar is one of a few renovations that building owner athenahealth has planned for the historic complex located just northwest of Boston.
The Watertown TAB first reported that last week, Watertown's Planning Board approved the building of a yet-unnamed restaurant and also granted a probationary liquor license for one year. No opening timeline is given. The name of the establishment will be revealed as early as March, but the the group is known to Boston-area diners, according to a representative of the design firm leading the project.
What are your guesses for who's opening the beer garden? Take it to the forums.
This new venture will be located at unit 321 on Arsenal Street, in the same building that houses Panera Bread and Arsenal Center for the Arts. The TAB article does not indicate whether those businesses will be affected to make room for the forthcoming 2,800-square foot restaurant and 4,500-square foot outdoor seating area.
UPDATE: A commenter on on the Wicked Local site for the TAB posted this promotional video, which strongly suggests Yard House might be the forthcoming tenant. Yard House has a Boston location in Fenway and also has outposts in Dedham and Lynnfield, as well as around the country.
