The Washington, DC-based Amsterdam Falafelshop officially opens its doors in Somerville today at 11am. Locals familiar with the DC spot were invited to a soft opening this weekend, and overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews are already trickling in. The Davis Square restaurant, which took over the former lounge space of Diva, features falafel sandwiches and salad bowls with a DIY toppings bar that includes everything from tahini to pickled cauliflower, mostly made in-house. On the side, diners can also enjoy twice-fried Dutch fries ("fritten"), brownies, and soft drinks.
